UTM Source Tracking

Lucy can track inbound and outbound links to and from the platform using the utm_source parameter in the URL. The source tracking is driven by the URL parameter that is shared, and different onramps to Lucy or offramps to various external sites may each have their own identifier. To understand where users are coming from, itโ€™s possible to add specific parameters to the different URLs which will tie it to that source.

Using utm_source, itโ€™s possible can collect information about the overall efficacy of a given campaign or attribute traffic to the Lucy platform.

Manual Setup

To track a specific campaign encouraging adoption of Lucy, simply add the URL parameter utm_source populated with the desired identifier. This identifier can be used in future reporting to track and may be used to correlate how effective each campaign is at getting people to use Lucy. Similarly, the same concept can be applied to any source within Lucy to attribute traffic to said source from Lucy.

Please note the usage of URL parameters:

  • If there is already a ?xyz=abcthen add &utm_source=xxx to the end of the URL.
  • If there are no parameters already set, then simply add ?utm_source=xxx to the end of the URL.

Example URLs:

Navigating to these examples will be visible by pulling a future reporting so Lucy Administrators will be able to see how this context flows through the system and external administrators can attribute inbound traffic to Lucy.
